A man's guide to a glowing and radiant skin

Skin care is not an issue for most men. Applying layers upon layers of cream and using expensive products for face cleansing is something they leave to their women. However, more men are becoming more conscious about their skin and putting great effort to ensure they have a smooth, radiant and youthful skin that leaves women drooling over them. This does not mean they sacrifice their masculinity in the process or join the local spa. The following are some simple steps one can take to maintain a glowing and healthy skin.

The Do's 1.Get enough sleep Sounds simple enough but it is quite important. The skin carries out many functions during the day such as regulating the body temperature and protecting the body against pathogens. During sleep, the skin can be able to carry out other functions such as production of elastin which is responsible for the skin's elasticity and youthful look. 2.Keep it clean The skin tends to pick up a lot of dirt through the day, from sweat to dust. This can block the sweat pores and thus taking a shower everyday is not optional. Cleaning the skin also gets rid of dead skin cells which might stick around and interfere with the regular production of new cells which makes the skin look aged and worn out. 3.Keep you body hydrated We have all heard of the importance of drinking lots of fluids so much that we no longer pay any attention to it. This is however one of the secrets to a radiant skin. Like any other organ, the cells in the skin require water to properly function and depriving them of water makes your skin tight, dry and flaky. 4.Use a moisturizer Most men do not even know what a moisturizer is as they haves an oily skin. However for those with a dry skin, the importance of a moisturizer can't be overemphasized. It should be applied after a shower with an emphasis on the parts of the body that tend to be most dry such as elbows and lower legs. 5.Get the right nutrition As with any organ, the kind of food you consume has a large bearing on the health of the skin. One of the most important component for the skin is Vitamin C which can be found in such foods as oranges, mangoes and pineapples. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant which rids the skin of toxins making it glowing and preventing the onset of premature wrinkles. The Don'ts 1. Use a scrub A common mistake with most men. A scrub has jagged edges which is most likely to cut into the skin and destroy the skin's delicate barrier. 2. Eat lots of sugars Cutting down on sugars is important not only in building a muscular body but also in the care of your skin. Sugar molecules have a negative effect on collagen and elastin which are responsible for the skin's firm structure. 3. Smoke or drink excessively Smoking affects the production of collagen which causes your skin to sag. Alcohol can lead to dryness and lead to dry skin. Skin care is as important for men as it is for women. Men need to take care of their skin as well and with these tips, one will be able to get and maintain a radiant and glowing skin.
